The District Sales Manager, Biosciences position is part of the commercial organization supporting the Biosciences Division portfolio. We are responsible for supporting reagents, instruments, and consumables from across the division’s business units: Molecular Biology; Protein and Cell Analysis; Sample Preparation; and Cell Biology.

The District Sales Manager, Biosciences – Inside Sales Northern California Region position is an office-based management job accountable for the sales results and the people leadership of inside sales account managers. We work with customers from academic, pharmaceutical and biotech segments. This position is responsible for leading business processes and managing the resources associated with the Biosciences portfolio. You will be accountable to Commercial Operations leadership for: achieving agreed upon sales and financial targets with demonstrated business analysis and forecasting accuracy, establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with key customer executives, insuring effective sales and service coverage and proper quota allocation in their assigned geographic market, attracting and retaining highly qualified Account Managers to drive growth in the assigned market and, providing service to customers consistent with Life Science Solutions Group standards and expectations.

A Day in the Life:

  • Strategic and tactical thinking about the business, developing clear business plans and demonstrating how to effectively achieve those plans.
  • Direct the implementation of the business plan across the district to meet objectives, successfully introduce new products, and the retain and grow current customers.
  • Consistently monitor results of the sales team to provide accurate sales forecasting, pipeline management, and opportunity tracking using Salesforce and other designated IT tools.
  • Supports contracts/proposals/quotations within Thermo Fisher Scientific Guidelines. Approves competitive pricing as needed to maintain and grow the business and increase price realization with guidance from Senior Sales Management or Commercial Operations Finance department.
  • Successfully attracts, develops, and retains highly qualified Inside Sales Account Managers.
  • Regularly monitor customer needs to ensure they are understood by team members and key Life Science Solutions Group departments and appropriate levels of service and responsiveness are provided.
  • Work with Inside Sales Account Managers as part of their regular rhythm of coaching and development.
  • Manage the Inside Sales Account Manager’s time sheets to ensure hours, sick days, travel time and vacations are reported correctly.

Keys to Success:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry or related field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience. A Master's or MBA degree is a plus

Experience:

  • 5 years selling and account relationship management experience with a major company
  • Previous people leadership responsibilities preferred

Compensation:
The salary range estimated for this position is $78,000 - $112,000 This position will also be eligible to receive a variable sales bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
